Judging by the fact that you’re visiting our site, we’re going to assume this is the stage you’re currently in. Researching and planning your project is a critical step that can shape your entire home building process. In this stage you should be focusing on finding the right neighbourhood, researching different styles of homes that you like, and most importantly researching the home builders in your area.
When researching the neighbourhoods, you should consider the amenities, your commute to work, and the proximity to your children’s school. You should plan to visit different communities and neighbourhoods to get a better feel for the area and determine if it’s the right place for you and your family.
By now you probably have a good idea of how you want your house to look and the style that you want. This is another aspect to consider when determining your neighbourhood. Generally different neighbourhoods have different style guidelines that may or may not restrict you.
You should also be prepared to spend a good amount of time researching companies to build your home. Not only should you look for experienced builders, but you should also interview them and make sure their personality is compatible with you.

02. Concept & Design
After you have decided where you want your house built, we will sit down with you and listen to your ideas. We’ll discuss all the functionalities you want your home to have and get a better feel of your lifestyle. Most importantly we’ll discuss your budget and how you want to allocate it. We then use this information to start planning and designing your home. To make the process faster, we can offer you one of our hundreds of pre-made plans that can be tailored to suit your needs. If you’re feeling extra creative, we can design a home from scratch just for you!
During the entire design phase, we will ask for your input and thoughts. This is going to be the home you spend many years of your life in, and we want it to be as “you” as it can get. We will work with you to pick all your finishes in your home, such as cabinets, countertops, flooring, paint colors, etc.
We believe that building the perfect home all starts with the perfect plan. That is why we spend a lot of time and effort to make sure you get exactly what you want.
03. Permits & Construction
Once you’re satisfied with the plans and we have your approval, we will obtain the permits required to start construction. This is the step you have been waiting for. You get to see all your hours of researching and planning come to life! Throughout the construction, we will keep you updated and schedule regular site meetings to make sure you’re happy with the process. We work with the best trades in the city that we have built years of relationship and trust with. 04. Inspection & Support
Our services don’t stop when the construction does. After your house is complete and ready for you to move in, we will thoroughly inspect the house and make sure everything is just as planned. We will ensure there are no deficiencies, and everything meets Civic Homes’ standards.
